Website access records
Our server records requests to this website, including the network IP address, date and time, page or file requested, response status, referring page and browser information supplied with the request. Request addresses can include query parameters. We do not add cookies, session identifiers, passwords, request bodies or contact-form contents to these logs.
We keep a private server-side archive to understand website usage and search referrals, maintain the website, and investigate technical problems or misuse. We rely on our legitimate interests in operating and improving the service, balanced against visitors’ privacy. These records are not used for advertising, cross-site tracking or automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Our private administration reports use the IP address to estimate country, region and city using a locally stored location database. These estimates may describe a network provider or VPN exit point rather than your actual location. Visitor IP addresses are not sent to a third-party location lookup service. We also classify likely automated requests from browser information to filter traffic statistics; this is not a reliable identification of individual people.
No analytics cookies
This statistics system uses server logs, not browser tracking scripts, analytics cookies or fingerprinting. It cannot measure how far you scroll, how long you read a section or whether you send an email. Distinct IP addresses do not reliably identify individual people.
Access and retention
Raw records are restricted to the operator and authorised technical administrators and service providers. The archive is held on our Hetzner hosting server in Germany, with a same-server backup. Statistics and IP-based access summaries are shown to authorised operators on our private UK intranet. We do not sell these records or share them with advertising services.
The private archive has no automatic expiry. We retain records while necessary for website administration, usage analysis or relevant investigations, and review whether identifiable information is still needed. Information no longer needed should be deleted or anonymised. Routine log files rotate separately; rotation does not erase the archive or its backup.
Contacting us and external links
If you email us, we use the details you provide to respond to your enquiry and manage the resulting relationship, retaining them for as long as necessary for that purpose and any applicable legal obligations. Email service providers may process the correspondence on our behalf. External websites have their own privacy information.
Your right to object
You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact kai@blue.uk.com with your circumstances. We will consider the request and stop that processing unless there are overriding legitimate grounds or it is needed for legal claims.
Your other rights
Subject to the applicable conditions, you can request access, correction, deletion or restriction of your personal information. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We may need proportionate information to verify a request without disclosing another visitor’s records.
